The Price is Right: Leveraging Psychology to Boost Value & Willingness to Pay

Presentation

For Everyone

Session Description:

Pricing decisions often rely on competitive benchmarks or customer surveys. But what people say about price and how they actually decide to pay are two different things. Customers don’t assess value rationally—they rely on cognitive shortcuts, compare options in ways you might not expect, and react differently depending on how a product is framed.

In this session, Pauline will share behavioral science-backed tactics for optimizing pricing pages, packaging, and price perception—without resorting to guesswork.

Insights You’ll Gain:
- How customers assess value and why feature lists don’t drive willingness to pay
- The risk of making free tiers too attractive and how to drive upgrades
- When bundling increases revenue—and when it turns customers away
- How companies have successfully raised prices without losing customers
- Pricing page optimizations that increase conversions by reframing choices
